Long time no speak eh? You may have seen my previous tour dates and noticed they were quite busy. Over the moon with how my 2nd UK tour went down and I can’t thank enough the attendees of the gigs I played between here and Falmouth. 

More recently I’ve been playing locally, starting with, and finishing tour with, the 1st Beverley blues festival. I unfortunately did not manage to attend the whole event but managed to get up from Torquay on the Sunday and see the whole line up and to, of course, perform. I can’t thank event holder Graham enough for putting on such a great event. With it’s success I don’t doubt that there’ll be a 2nd, can’t wait! 

The festival cleared me of my 2nd release ‘Growing with the blues’ and has made way for my next release which is in preparation for recording! There’s been to big changes to my music, an example can be found below of me performing a track from the unreleased release. Don’t worry, nowt too much has changed…the Diddley bow still has one string and there’s still only one member of the band. Before I move on to what’s next I’d like to also thank Garry as well for having me at the Milton Rooms in Malton last Friday, I look forward to returning and am glad to see something being done with the place, please keeping supporting it and events of it’s nature!

So, what’s next? Well I’m back in Malton on Wednesday at the Yard. 8:30 start, can’t wait, will be a great! If you live in or around the York and Ryedale area, this can’t be missed…though I don’t think the night will be completely unique! 

On the front of documentary ‘Bessie Blues’, about my trip from N. Yorkshire to Vaud, Switzerland on a ’48 Fergie, things are going to get exciting for Swiss residents. There’s been planned several screenings in Switzerland throughout December which will be followed by a BluesBeaten Redshaw performance. You can find dates on my gigs page, there will also be another post made regarding the screenings. Failing that you can even catch information on them during a live performance and interview from myself and documentary director Sebastian Chastellain. You can catch that on Swiss Radio’s ITW at 19:00, November 30th. If you can tune in then get twiddling, a broken radio ain’t even an excuse!

How’s things? Well don’t need to say much about this one other than here’s that TV interview followed by a table top performance of my Diddley Bow song ‘All My Life’. Sorry for those who aren’t fluent French speakers but neither am I so there’s a little English in there for you too.
You can’t but be amazed by the instant translations of interviewer, Alexis Favre, to my left and his correcting the interviewer opposite me, Julie Evard, on the pronouciation of ‘Yorkshire’! And as for Julie, well you can’t half help but stare at her eh? Thanks to both Julie and Alexis, 2 great interviewers so glasses raised to them for having me and Sebastien Chastellain (to my right) on the show. This interview aired the same week as the film ‘Bessie Blues’, produced my Sebastien Chestelain and MS PROD (www.ms-prod.ch), was premiered. With out further ado…

Ey up. Thought it’s time for another post and this time I’ve got something special for you to check out…A truly 100% British built, handcrafted masterpiece and in the form of a Tricone Resonator too. This Reso is the latest of luthier JuJu’s many guitar and cigar box guitar creations. JuJu’s based in Sheffield, UK and if you haven’t done already, go stick his picture in your dictionary next to the word Genius. His work is truly outstanding and not just with woods, this tricone features his first cast aluminium bridge…cast in a furnace he made himself! The pickup is one of his own and wound on a pickup winder he made himself, the etched parts were etched in his self-made etching tank…I think we’re getting the picture now and enough so that we’ve already got the pritstick and dictionary out.
I’ve been lucky enough to have played this Reso and it doesn’t stop at its amazing craftsmanship because it plays and sounds mint! It’s three 4″ cones (which yes, were hand spun by JuJu) are what’s making that. But don’t believe me?…then check it out for yourself by watching the below video. And funnily enough I am the one giving the demo on a brand new track ‘Street’s On Fire’…well wouldn’t be a proper musician if I didn’t some how end up plugging myself too would I?

Alright, for starters you can see that I’ve had a nice new website layout. Nice in’t it?! You’ll probably have also noticed that every thing’s been updated and I intend to keep it that way now, trust us on that one. I was tought how to update all my gigs and that (I even wrote it down) so you know exactly where and when I’ll be playing…so you’ve no excuses now.

Next thing is, a few weeks ago I went on Live TV in cantons Vaud & Fribourg, Switzerland. It was a short 10min feature on the film that has been produced from my 3 week trip on my family’s 1948 Ferguson TE20 tractor from my place in North Yorkshire to Switzerland. Sebastian Chastellain, the film director and producer, was with me for the interview which, I’m sorry for those outside of the French language, was largely in French. Though no worries because even if you don’t quite catch it it’s still worth watching for my table topping performance of my song ‘All My Life’ played on my Diddley Bow, truly Table Topping (you’ll see what I mean). So yes, this does mean you still have the chance to watch it, simply get over to my Facebook page via the link above and it’s right there right now. I’m hoping to get this on to my YouTube channel and also here on my website too soon.
